This ancient Celtic unity ritual involves a long plait of ribbons, colours chosen by you as they need to be pertaining to your personalities and relationship journey.  For example, if one of you is Scottish and you can obtain ribbon in the family tartan, that can be used.

The plait is wound around your held hands and symbolically tied representing your commitment to each other.  Who ties the plait?  Well, that could be me or you may wish to involve a special guest to do the honours.  The options are boundless [Sorry]
